The food industries have carried out many actions to increase the energy efficiency.
The actions designed to achieve higher energy efficiency have become essential in the face of this increase of demand, perspective of shortage and increase of the energy costs in the next decades. Large-scale production allows a lower expenditure in energy per processed food. In addition, the use of clean and renewable energy are alternatives to enable the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, which is associated to the intensive use of fossil fuels.
