In the product/packaging system optimization, under the Life Cycle Thinking perspective, practices have been adopted to reduce the consumption of natural resources, weight, volume and energy, use of materials and energy from renewable sources, reduction of losses, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and reduction of water footprint.
The materials reuse and recycling involves extending the package life, technologies for recycling and reuse, and development of new packages using the ecodesign.
The study Brasil Pack Trends 2020 identified, among the trends to the development of more sustainable packages to the food and beverages sector, the optimization of the product/package system, reuse and recycling of materials, waste management and reverse logistics.
